Economic Viability and Seasonal Impacts of Integrated Rice-Prawn-Vegetable Farming on Agricultural Households in Southwest Bangladesh

Integrated aquaculture is an efficient method to address food scarcity and land resources. This study analysed the impacts of integrated rice–prawn–vegetable farms (RPVF) compared with conventional rice (CRF) on farming households in southwest Bangladesh, terms cropping pattern, financial profitability viability, cash-flow. Data were collected through face-to-face recall interviews from farmers CRF RPVF. For RPVF, cultivated diverse produce wet season, such as prawn/shrimp, carps reservoirs vegetables dikes, boro dry whereas only was both seasons for CRF. The annual hectare?1 net revenue RPVF USD 2742.7, 3.6 times higher than (USD 756.6). had a undiscounted benefit–cost ratio (BCR) 1.58 1.34 Net Present Value (NPV) discounted BCR show that has potential Year-round vegetable production selling have resulted smooth cash-flow Authorised extension agencies, Department Fisheries Agricultural Extension collaboratively can promote other parts which benefit year after by investing farm income same envisage security.
